The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Debuts, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the upcoming animated film.

Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

A Space-Faring Quest Based on Iconic Releases

In the vein of the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The feature will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

Mario's Major Moment

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his allies.

The company has a trio of new releases publicly declared for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
