One police sergeant that leaped to the help of a colleague that got attacked by a blade-wielder was granted the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a knife to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the officers and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver following a road collision in the area in summer 2023.

Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a Taser.

"Policeman knifed," PC Wolstencroft stated over his radio.

Officer-mounted and dashcam footage released by the agency showed Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, run up to Sgt Foster from behind with a knife pointed forward.

He struck the officer who lost balance and fell to the street, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the floor although being continually attacked with the blade.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "I need help on my neck here, I've been stabbed in the throat."

Authorities said Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stop his fellow officer's hemorrhaging before emergency responders arrived.

This most recent recognition follows after the trio of policemen were granted organizational Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the local officer association in spring 2024.

They additionally received a Area Courage Honor in mid-2024.
